First Miss Landmine documentary released

AND THE WINNERS ARE...

The world's two first Miss Landmine winners were crowned
in Luanda, Angola at 9 pm GMT Wednesday the 2nd of April.
The winner of the jury's vote is Augusta Hurica  (31) representing the province of Luanda. Angola's First Lady, Ana Paula dos Santos, was present at the opening and awarded Augusta her Miss crown.
 
The winner of the international Internet vote is Maria Restino Manuel (26)  representing Cuanza Sul province, with 2831 (29%) out of 9888 votes cast from more than 30 countries.
Maria could not attend the crowning due to pregnancy, but was awarded her special-cast leg prothesis in a seperate ceremony in her home village Cachoeiras on Sunday April 6.




Countdown to D-day April 2, 2008

Miss Landmine Angola 2008 pageant in close collaboration with the Angolan government (CNIDAH) and supported by the European Union is under way: The crowning of the world's first Miss Landmine in front of a live audience and a special jury in CineTropico in Luanda, Angola on April 2nd, 2008. The winner will receive a custom-made prothesis from Norway's leading manufacturer.

The Miss Landmine photo Expo will open in Luanda on April 4, the UN International Day for Mine Awareness and Assistance in Mine Action.

7412 visitors have seen the Miss Landmine Expo at the Leprosy Museum
May 25 – Sept 1, setting a record high for the museum.
